The Chosen and You: The Ignatian Spiriuality Center Fall Morning of Reflection.
Led by Br. Carl Caceres, S.J., this Fall Morning of Reflection will invite participants to view and reflect on selected scenes from The Chosen, the first multi-season series about the life of Jesus and the apostles. The selected scenes will highlight a variety of important spiritual themes in the Gospels and be used as the gateway to reflect on how the imaginative rendering of material from the Gospels invites us to reflect on aspects of our own faith journey, spiritual life, and relationship with God. There will be time for individual reflection as well as small and large group discussion.
Br. Carl Caceres, SJ is the Vice-President for Mission & Ministry at Rockhurst University.
Br. Carl grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, not far from New York City. He earned a B.A. in philosophy and theology/religious studies from the University of Scranton, where he initially met the Jesuits. Br. Carl earned an M.S. in student affairs in higher education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a doctorate in higher education (Ed.D.) from Loyola University Chicago.
Br. Carl is a trained spiritual director and taught spiritual direction through Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies and Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House in Barrington, IL, where he currently serves on the board. Br. Carl served as the Jesuit in Residence for Loyola Chicago's Rambler Brotherhood Project, a student success and retention initiative run out of Loyola's Division of Student Development. He is a formator for the Ignatian Colleagues Program, a program run by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities aimed at helping administrators and faculty at Jesuit institutions learn more about Jesuit mission and identity. Before joining the Jesuits, he worked in residence life at Creighton University, campus ministry at Xavier University, and academic advising at Miami University in Ohio. Br. Carl is a former collegiate tennis player and coached tennis at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL.
