Ignatian PRAYER GUIDE TRAINING
After making the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life and completing the Ignatian Foundations’ courses, Dynamics for living the Spiritual Exercises, and the Practices and Guidelines for living the Spiritual Exercises with the Ignatian Spirituality Center in Kansas City, there is an opportunity to apply to become an Ignatian prayer guide. After completing ISC’s Ignatian Contemplative Listening course, Ignatian prayer guides can begin facilitating our short guided prayer experiences (Group and Individual) or they commence further training to guide others through the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life.
Training to become an Ignatian prayer guide for the Spiritual Exercises consists of a two year mentoring program and three years of peer supervision instruction. Our training is extremely practical. Our trainee guides give the Spiritual Exercises to a retreatant and meet weekly with a mentor to receive ongoing support, learning, and skills development. Preparation of a verbatim is required weekly for the first year of mentoring.
The meeting requirement for the second year of mentoring will vary from every 2-3 weeks as determined by the mentor and the guide.
WHEN DOES THE IGNATIAN PRAYER GUIDES TRAINING BEGIN?
We begin our Ignatian prayer guides training every summer in July and August in preparation for giving the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life or shorter retreats in the Fall.
COST
There is no cost for our Ignatian prayer guides training. Prayer guides are volunteers in the Ignatian Spirituality Program.
