Ignatian PRAYER GUIDE TRAINING
After making the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life and completing the Prayer Companions program with the Ignatian Spirituality Center in Kansas City, there is an opportunity to apply to become an Ignatian prayer guide. Our prayer guides facilitate our short guided prayer experiences (Group and Individual) or they commence training to guide others through the Spiritual Exercises in daily life.
Training to become an Ignatian prayer guide for the Spiritual Exercises consists of a two year mentoring program and three years of peer supervision instruction. Our training is extremely practical. Our trainee guides give the Spiritual Exercises to a retreatant and meet weekly with a mentor to receive ongoing support, learning, and skills development. Preparation of a verbatim is required weekly for the first year of mentoring.
The meeting requirement for the second year of mentoring will vary from weekly to monthly as determined by the mentor and the guide.
WHEN DOES THE IGNATIAN PRAYER GUIDES TRAINING BEGIN?
We begin our Ignatian prayer guides training every year in conjunction with the 9 month retreat, giving the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life. We commence with a dedication service in the chapel at Rockhurst School. This year the service will be on Thursday September 21, 2017. Each year of training concludes in May with a celebration dinner for both guides and retreatants with the Ignatian Spirituality Center's wider community.
There is no cost for our Ignatian prayer guides training. Prayer guides are volunteers in the Ignatian Spirituality Program.
